 The Houses

Habitat houses are built by volunteers with oversight provided by trained House Leaders and Site Project Managers and our Construction Department.  Our houses are craftsman-style homes and have planned "Streetscape" landscaping.  The houses are 3 or 4 bedroom/2 bath homes; the average size is approximately 1400 square feet.  All of our houses are built in compliance with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) "Model Green Homebuilding Guidelines."  Since 2010 all of our houses have been Energy Star compliant and Earthcraft certified.  It takes 8 weeks to build a house.  After which, a Dedication Ceremony is held to officially dedicate the house to the homeowner family and to recognize and thank the sponsors, construction team and volunteers.  Dedication usually takes place 2-3 weeks after the last day of the build.

On average, we build 20 homes a year, utilizing over 4,000 volunteers.

A sponsor is any company, church or civic group, or individual that agrees to fund all, or a significant part of the expense of building a Habitat house.  The sponsor(s) also commit to providing volunteers for labor plus food and drink for the volunteers working on the days they sponsor.
